Hey Roxanne! We’d love to have you join us as well! Our Colorado Trail tour hits the trail on August 10. We still have a couple openings available. Next year we’ll be offering more tours in more locations. Hope you can join us!
How could I be a running guide? I live in Moab,Utah and would love to be a guide for you in this area. I know most of the trails in the desert as well as the La Sal Mountains. I’m and ultra runner and been running ultras for about nine years now. I just won the Nanny Goat 12 Hour race in Riverside,Ca. on May 23rd. I’ve been submerged in the ultra scene since 1980 when my father Juan Martinez was competing. I have 12 years river guiding experience and I am still guiding. If you would like someone from this area to guide for you I would be your best choice! I can give you references like Ian Torrence and Hal Koerner who I paced when they set out to set the course record on the Colorado Trail. I also paced Ian Torrence at Hardrock 100. Please contact me at ollinche@hotmail.com if you are interested in a local representative in Moab Thanks for your time!
Chris Martinez
PS I’m the race director of Moab’s Alpine to Slickrock 50 Miler and Moab’s Red Hot 50k
Thanks for the note on our website. I just saw it there. For some reason it didn’t show up right away.
We’re planning to expand our offerings in the coming years and would like to hire additional guides to help us run our tours. We’d be looking for trail runners with outdoor trip leadership experience, experience running in the locations of our tours, wilderness first aid training, good backcountry cooking skills and good people skills. We’d like them to be energetic and passionate about trail running. As we start offering more tours, we’ll keep you in mind. We’re hoping that we can continue to offer great tours as we expand and bring more guides in to work with us.
We’d love to plan a Kokopelli Trail running tour soon as well. We were hoping to offer it this Spring but at present don’t have the capacity to offer this tour.
Let’s definitely stay in touch!
Thanks,
Andy
